Other End-Of-Life Services
Special Locations
A family can directly work with a funeral home, or today, directly with a crematory. Often a family only wants an intimate graveside service, especially in these pandemic times.
Increasingly common now, family and friends place a dear one’s remains in a columbarium. A columbarium is frequently on the grounds of a church – typically outside the sanctuary – either near a small chapel inside the church building or outside in a small area on their grounds.
Other services can be a celebration of life in a favorite location, possibly a scenic one in the hill country, mountains or at the ocean. Any of these services can be formal or casual. Most are short. Many towns allow a creative activity (i.e., balloons released, scattering of ashes, etc.), while others have restrictions.
Pets
Our pet is a beloved and cherished family member. When they die and “Cross Over the Rainbow Bridge,” many families often look for a more “formal service,” so it is completely understandable our dear companion’s life should be celebrated too. Sometimes a structured celebration of life or funeral service is desired. This ritual can be especially meaningful for children, family and even our pet’s 2 and 4 legged friends.
“Other End-of-Life Service” fees are offered on a sliding scale, depending on factors including:
participants, location, vendors, distance, activities and more. Contact Rev. Jody for details.
“Jody and I trained together for hospital chaplaincy at Roanoke Carillion Hospital where we learned to be "spiritual EMT's" during times of trauma and loss for patients and families. Jody possesses the rare ability of being present for folks of all (or no) faiths and religions. She also utilizes active listening skills rather than proselytizing. Jody is an expert at meeting people wherever they are on their own spiritual journey, and her preaching skills are amazing! I would highly recommend Jody for counseling, ceremonial officiant, or supply preaching.”
