Spiritual Retreats, Quiet Days, Sacred Rituals
Spiritual Retreats
A spiritual retreat is a time to step away from our fast-paced life; to slow down and reflect on: our connection with our Creator, ourselves and others. It is an opportunity to disconnect from distractions and press our “re-set” button in our life journey. We separate ourselves to a place “away” from loved ones, work and to unplug electronically, if even for a few hours. It is an opportunity to allow our spirit, body and mind to rest or begin to heal in the blessedness of a renewal.
Blessings of Life Ministry requires attendees to respect all with dignity in gatherings. Proselytizing is not allowed. Uninterrupted listening to one another, discovery of commonality and joy are encouraged. Naps and silence are often part of a retreat.
A retreat is an opportunity to “quiet our minds.” It is a place to reflect on a situation we are struggling with; to start a new habit; a life-changing decision or to “just be still.”
A Quiet Day
A Quiet Day is similar to a mini-retreat and can be a full or half day. Each person is invited to participate in various activities – in soft tones or silence. This is a time for each person to be alone with their thoughts to contemplate the day’s topic. Sharing thoughts is optional.
Sacred Rituals
Sometimes we want or need a customized “sacred ritual” to honor a milestone event. This can be a religious Baptism, Christening or Dedication. It can be a solemn ritual to honor “Godparents.” It can also be a “A RITE of Passage” ritual for a group of older teens or graduates no longer considered as children (except by their parents), who are now are referred to as “Young Adults.”
A sacred ritual could also be a casual “Blessing Of Our Backpacks” to offer heartfelt prayers late summer as youngsters return to school; or a “Blessing Of Our Work Tools” (barista aprons, phones, briefcases, laptops, tool belts, stethoscopes, flashlight, etc.) to celebrate: a new position, career or new hybrid workplace. A sacred “Welcome to America” ritual can be held for those who entered our country.
Look for a, “Losing Our Tiny Ones” sacred ritual, soon to be announced on this website. This ritual is designed to honor those who lost a pregnancy (pregnancies) either recently or many years ago.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with Jody at the Travis County Attorney’s Office. Jody worked as a counselor serving victims of violent crimes. As a public servant, Jody encountered people from all walks of life and approached everyone without judgment and in the most kindhearted and loving way. Jody’s interactions with clients were so warm and genuine that she immediately secured their trust. Jody’s passion for helping others was illustrated in the time she took making sure her clients felt comfortable and safe. What is more, Jody was a natural nurturer with her coworkers and offered endless support. I came to know her as a truly valuable coworker and friend. She is honest, dependable, and one of the kindest people I have ever met.
Jody’s innate skill is being able to relate and connect to others. Along with Jody’s indubitable empathy, she has always been able to see a person for who they are. She is compassionate, gracious, understanding, and always manages to foster positive discussions and bring the best out anyone she engages with.
Without a doubt, I confidently recommend Jody Harrison. As a dedicated and knowledgeable employee and an all-around great person, I have no doubt Jody will deliver exceptional service.”
